Synthesis of <i>N</i>-heterocyclic carbene-based silver complexes and their antimicrobial properties against bacteria and fungi

N-Heterocyclic carbene-based silver complexes (Ag-NHCs) have been widely used as organometallic drug candidates in medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry research due to their low toxicity. Due the success of Ag-NHCs biological applications, interest synthesis applications such compounds is increasing rapidly. Therefore, this study, ten Ag-NHC containing benzimidazol-2-ylidene ligand were synthesized characterized by 1H NMR, 13C FT-IR spectroscopies elemental analyses. The antimicrobial activity was tested against some standard culture collections Gram-negative, Gram-positive bacterial strains fungal strains, which are most frequently isolated among society hospital acquired infectious microorganisms potential metallopharmaceutical agents. showed effective with MIC values between 6.25 100 μg/mL.
